How to Work Out Your Carpet Area (m²)

Step 1: Measure each carpeted area

Use a tape measure (or a phone measure app) and measure:

• Length of the room (wall to wall)

• Width of the room (wall to wall)

Write the numbers down in metres.

Step 2: Multiply length × width

This gives you the square metres (m²).

Example:
A room that is 3.2 metres long × 3.6 metres wide
= 11.52 m²

Step 3: Add up all carpeted rooms

Repeat the steps above for each carpeted room and add them together.

Example:

• Bedroom 1: 12 m²

• Bedroom 2: 10 m²

• Lounge: 20 m²
  Total carpet area: 42 m²

Step 4: Don’t worry about small cut-outs

You don’t need to subtract:

• Wardrobes

• Doorways

• Small alcoves

Rounding slightly up is better than down and helps avoid surprises.

• Measure only areas you want serviced.

• If your rooms are irregular, estimate a rectangle that covers the space

• If you’re unsure, choose the closest higher option when booking

• Master bedroom: ~3.5 m × 4.5 m → ~15–16 m² (largest bedroom)

• Standard bedroom: ~3.0 m × 3.2 m → ~9–12 m²

• Guest / secondary bedroom: ~3.0 m × 3.0 m → ~9 m² (common)

Living / Lounge Areas

• Living room / lounge: ~4.0 m × 5.0 m → ~20 m² (typical)

• Family / open plan living: ~20–30 m² (varies widely with layout)

Kitchen & Dining

• Kitchen: ~3.0 m × 3.5 m → ~10–12 m² (common standalone layout)

• Dining area: ~3.0 m × 4.0 m → ~12 m²
  (Open-plan kitchens + meals areas may be larger as one combined space.)

• Bathroom: ~1.8 m × 2.4 m → ~4–6 m² (standard)

• Ensuite: ~4–8 m² (varies by fittings)

• Laundry: ~1.5 m × 2.0 m → ~3 m²
